About the Role
As an HSMN Temple Cook you are responsible for preparing and cooking food for the temple's daily rituals and events. The cook will work closely with the food chair to plan and coordinate all the kitchen related tasks mentioned in the responsibilities. The temple cook will also work with the priests for any naivedyam (prasad) offering to the deities.

Menu planning: The temple cook is responsible for planning the menu for the day or week, weekend or special events, based on the dietary restrictions and preferences of the temple's deity and the community.
Cooking: The cook is responsible for preparing food for daily offerings, special events, and festivals. This includes washing, chopping, and cooking ingredients, as well as seasoning and flavoring the food according to traditional recipes.
Hygiene: The temple cook is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the temple kitchen. This includes ensuring that the cooking area is clean and tidy.
Inventory management: The cook is responsible for managing inventory of food ingredients and supplies, and ensuring that there is enough food for daily offerings and events.
Teamwork: The cook often works as part of a team, including other cooks and volunteers, and must be able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively.
Rituals: The temple cook may be required to participate in temple rituals and ceremonies, and must be familiar with the customs and traditions of the temple.
Record-keeping: The cook may be responsible for maintaining records of inventory, food preparation, and expenses related to the kitchen.
Training: The cook may be responsible for training and supervising kitchen assistants, and ensuring that all members of the kitchen team follow proper hygiene and safety procedures.
Experience
Minimum of 3years of experience working in a large temple kitchen.
Traditional cooking skills: The cook should have experience in cooking traditional Indian cuisine from all regions of India, particularly the types of food that are typically prepared for temple offerings and events.
While formal culinary training may be helpful, experience and knowledge gained through working in a temple or in traditional Indian cooking can also be valuable for.
Overall, the temple cook plays an important role in the daily operations of the temple, and must have a deep understanding of the customs, traditions, and dietary restrictions of the community.
