Keeping an older phone active for simple calls and texts sounded easy enough until service started acting strangely out of nowhere. Some calls went directly to voicemail, mobile data disconnected randomly, and account information inside the app looked confusing after a recent refill payment. Since the phone was still needed every day, the situation became frustrating pretty quickly. Later in the evening there was reading about tracfone customer support to understand whether network or account issues were causing the problem.
