VPN vs Internet Providers
I heard somewhere that internet providers can track your activity, like which sites you visit. That made me a bit uncomfortable, so I started looking into VPNs. But I’m still not sure how much they actually hide. If I turn one on, does my provider stop seeing what I’m doing completely, or do they still have some visibility?

As far as I’ve figured out, using a VPN doesn’t completely hide everything from your internet provider, but it does change what they’re able to see. Instead of your actual browsing activity, they mainly see that you’re connected to a VPN server. Since the data is encrypted, it’s not easy for them to tell what sites you’re visiting or what you’re doing online. I started looking into this more closely after realizing how much traffic goes through my connection every day, and I came across some helpful explanations on https://toggle.org/ . It made me understand that a VPN doesn’t make you invisible, but it does reduce how much of your activity is exposed by redirecting it through another server.
